In my opinion, Ubuntu 18.04 should not be released until this is fixed - it should be delayed if required. This is O/S killer and will do more to damage the brand name of Ubuntu than releasing a deeply flawed, not- ready-for-prime-time, version. Frankly, Ubuntu 18.04 is unusable as an LTS with this bug present.
