Public bug reported: During installation of Ubuntu server (18.04 dev) on HP server with two network interfaces on-board I faced with inconvenience in "Configure the network" section. Configurator show me next information:
Primary network interface: eno1: Intel Corporation 82574L Gigabit Network Connection enp2s0: Intel Corporation 82574L Gigabit Network Connection I go to use only one interface thus only one of them is connected now. But which one? I have Interface 1 and Interface 2 according to marking on server tower. Interface 1 has a cable plugged in, Interface 2 hasn't. But in fact enp2s0 is correct choice!! How should I have guessed that enp2s0 is Interface 1? It would be very helpful if there was a link status (or cable status) in front of each network interface. E.g.: Primary network interface: eno1: [unplugged]: Intel Corporation 82574L Gigabit Network Connection enp2s0: [plugged]: Intel Corporation 82574L Gigabit Network Connection ** Affects: netcfg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1760427 Title: "Configure the network" installer's section should show link's status To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/netcfg/+bug/1760427/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
