I have a Dell Insipron 9400 laptop with a 120gigs Samsung hd , I have this latop for 1 year now and the command : sudo smartctl -a /dev/sda | grep Load_Cycle return that : 225 Load_Cycle_Count 0x0012 040 040 000 Old_age Always - 613491 if I believe the previous comments my hd can die at all time... the previous fix with sdparm -B 255 /dev/sda doesn't work for me... i will try to active laptop-mode
