That's why I proposed to have the option to use it available. With a separate binary package, people have the option to use it if they want it. Otherwise they have to use third party repositories. Another option would be to build a package for universe. For me, gimp-gutenprint didn't work ever, so I'm very happy to have a working gtk+ print plugin on my Debian machine.
