I just did a fresh install of Gutsy and logcheck is completely broken. How could it be worse if the patch was applied? Reading this bug report, it is not clear what needs to be done from an end-user point of view between the patch coming from Debian and the comments from Ariel. I vote for the fix to be applied after being tested on systems upgraded from previous releases.
