I solved the same issue on Ubuntu 17.10 Acer Aspire E5. There is a repo with a lot of BT Firmware ready to use: https://github.com/winterheart/broadcom-bt-firmware/tree/master/brcm It may be necessary to rename the file to make it work. You can find out with the following command:
$ dmesg | grep bluetooth [ 12.314809] bluetooth hci0: Direct firmware load for brcm/BCM.hcd failed with error -2 If you get a similar line, you need to rename the firmware (/lib/firmware/brcm/BCM.hcd in this case). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1366418 Title: Bluetooth BCM43142A0 doesn’t work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1366418/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
