If you've got headphones/earphones why would you be surprised by a
volume change? Would you not hear it increase or decrease when you did
it?

If you didn't have them in your ears - and then started some audio -
would it not be your responsibility to ensure it's set to a sensible
level.

I rarely use headphones or earphones - nearly always amped up - I always
check the volume levels prior to starting audio - if the amp was at '11'
people within 500 feet would be knocking on my door ...
