yes it didn't work. it works fine now. I had various versions of the same modules in the /lib/modules. I deleted /lib/modules and reinstalled linux-image-generic. then I compiled the latest alsa 1.0.15. now it works. It loads snd-atiixp. snd-hda-intel is not loaded
