I can add some extra info. I think it's safe to say that my instance had become corrupt somehow. (It's still a bug that it could become so corrupt, but I don't know how to duplicate that).
On closing tabs, I discovered that I had roughly 200 tabs open. Clearly firefox now hides tabs well so that it's not so obvious between 20 and 200. Then, and perhaps related to this bug, those tabs were all duplicated. So my firefox instance actually had on the order of 400 tabs. Closing all of the tabs and then opening a new window (or even relaunching firefox) caused 200 or so tabs all to re-open. Eventually, I did the following: clear cache (a bit cargo cult of me) and set firefox to open a blank page on restart. Two restarts later and I was able to revert to "open windows from last session". Again, it seems to me a bug that this could arise at all, but in the absence of a good hunch on what code is being tickled or quite a lot of people being affected, this should probably be closed as not worth pursuing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1736355 Title: opening a new window re-opens all the tabs in the front window To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1736355/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
