@ GhePeU I think quodlibetor has the same concern I have: this may not be a ATI+Compiz bug which is why he posted and why I post here as well.
I have the same freezing issue on 2 different machines: one desktop with a 7900GS nVidia card (restricted driver, no compiz!) the other a laptop with onboard X300 (opensource driver, compiz enabled). A third laptop with nVidia 8600GT and Compiz enabled has no problems. The only real difference is that this third machine is a Gutsy Tribe 5 installation with all updates, the two others are fresh Gutsy release installs. FWIW, I have seen 3 different kind of freezings on both freshly installed Gutsy machines: - total graphical corruption. only saw this once on my nvidia desktop (no compiz, or desktop effects enabled) - total freeze, including mouse, caps lock and scroll lock LEDs blinking (most frequent, this has even happened in the live CD environment with nothing installed or changed!!) - freeze mouse still moving, but not even ctrl+alt+backspace did anything. Log files don't show any obvious problems. I had no such issues with Feisty on any of these 3 machines. -- X freezes when compiz is enabled on ATI cards https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/108527 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
