Which version of Ubuntu are you using? Did you try the magical incantation I listed in my initial post? I am currently using 16.04. There was a few days (maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago) when the problem reappeared but it disappeared again. I thought it might have been related to a new kernel version but I didn't get a chance to try the newest mainline kernel before it went away. If my instructions don't help, I'd suggest trying the newest kernel to see if that helps.
