In my system, gdm-cdd.conf is a symlink to /etc/alternatives/gdm-config-derivative, which in turn is a symlink to /usr/share/ubuntustudio-look/gdm-cdd.conf (which is installed by ubuntustudio-gdm-theme).
@ C. Kontros: I haven't tried removing that file, but definitely changing 'Browser=true' on /usr/share/ubuntustudio-look/gdm-cdd.conf made the face browser work again on all themes.
