Public bug reported: Auto-type works across most applications (browsers, email clients, etc.) but fails specifically in gnome-terminal.
When I invoke auto-type with focus in gnome-terminal, KeePass pops up a modal window whose title is "KeePass" reading: "For global auto-type, the 'xdotool' utility/package is required (version 2.20100818.3004 or higher!)." $ dpkg -l keepass2 xdotool Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend |/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Architecture Description +++-==============-============-============-================================= ii keepass2 2.36+dfsg-1 all Password manager ii xdotool 1:3.20160805 amd64 simulate (generate) X11 keyboard/ I recently updated to Ubuntu 17.10. I'm fairly confident that I never got this error in 17.04, but I may will simply never have tried auto- type in gnome-terminal, at least recently. ** Affects: keepass2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1730123 Title: Auto-type fails in gnome-terminal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/keepass2/+bug/1730123/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
