All touchpads have firmware, this one is no different.  You can read the HID 
descriptor as described in the HID over I2C protocol specification.  As 
described in the specification the firmware version is encoded in byte offset 
24.

For this particular issue, this information is not useful however
because the firmware for the XPS 9360 touchpad is unchanged since it's
been on the market.
