Public bug reported: Kubuntu RC install tonight, version 20171017.1. The install was mostly flawless until reboot. The step where the user is asked to remove the install media and hit return froze most everything.
I was able to get to a console eventually and saw only [numbers which changed with each report] systemd-journald[998]: Failed to send WATCHDOG=1 notification message: Transport endpoint is not connected. Was unable to get my gui to start again so I power-button restarted. At that point, the install seems successful. I'm reporting from that new system.
