Public bug reported: NB I am not sure I have labelled this with the right package, I just searched for device-mapper and there was only one entry.
After using do-release-upgrade to upgrade my server from Feisty to Gutsy, I was unable to use the 2.6.22-14-server kernel. The error I got was a flood of messages: Oct 22 21:06:02 dimen kernel: [ 246.191390] device-mapper: table: 254:4: linear: dm-linear: Device lookup failed Oct 22 21:06:02 dimen kernel: [ 246.191498] device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table I was able to boot and use 2.6.20-16-server and discovered that evms and evms-curses had not been removed during the upgrade. Removing these two packages allowed me to run the 2.6.22-14-server kernel. In a sense there is no bug here, but then again there are two: 1. Why do 2.6.22-14-server and evms interact so badly? 2. Why didn't the upgrade remove the evms packages? I have no idea what evms does for me, hopefully I won't miss it :-) ** Affects: devmapper (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kernel 2.6.22-14-server does not boot correctly after Feisty -> Gutsy upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156157 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
