I'm a newbie to LaunchPad and reporting bugs, so please forgive me if I violate protocol or anything like that.
I am having the same problem as waldschrat above on a fresh install of Gutsy. I have been able to get an RTL8180-based card to operate on an open network, but when I attempt to use WEP, it hangs up. There are several users on ubuntuforums reporting the same issue. I don't want to duplicate information from the forums too much, but I did just read this morning that This card worked out-of-the-box for me on Edgy. In Feisty (an upgrade from Edgy, not a fresh install), I had to remove Network Manager to get it to work and I may have also used ndiswrapper (I had experimented with it in troubleshooting this and since I wiped Feisty this time I can't see whether or not ndiswrapper was still providing the driver). Edgy and Feisty both worked with or without WEP. As a plus, Network Manager does seem to work for me in Gutsy with this card. I'm using Xubuntu Gutsy on a ThinkPad A22p. -- rtl8180 wireless hangs at "Setting SW wep Key" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
