Public bug reported: After latest kernel upgrade to version 4.4.0-93 machine failed to boot with message
Error 18: Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS Selecting old kernel (4.4.0-92) it boots normally. This is a virtual machine (kvm) running 16.04.3. Apport report attached. (Couldn't use apport to send bug report as the machine is behind a firewall that doesn't allow that.) Several other VMs in the same host boot just fine with same kernel. I presume this is a bug in Grub, but I could be wrong. ** Affects: grub (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "apport.grub.ciuapwnf.apport" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1714445/+attachment/4942256/+files/apport.grub.ciuapwnf.apport -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1714445 Title: Kernel 4.4.0-93 fails to boot with Error 18 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub/+bug/1714445/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
