A workaround. Have/Had the same issue. As the logrotate is executed by the daily cronjob, I modified /etc/cron.daily/logrotate to the following: ------------------------------------------------- #!/bin/sh
/usr/sbin/logrotate -s /var/lib/logrotate/logrotate.status /etc/logrotate.conf EXITVALUE=$? if [ $EXITVALUE != 0 ]; then /usr/bin/logger -t logrotate "ALERT exited abnormally with [$EXITVALUE]" fi /bin/systemctl restart rsyslog exit 0 ---------------------------------------------------- And that resolved the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/940030 Title: rsyslog stops working after logrotate until restarted To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rsyslog/+bug/940030/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
