See my post from March 22 for a possible workaround. Notes: 1. YMMV. The changes in kernel and nvidia driver sometimes cause the desktop to crash - not system hang, just need to login again and restart the desktop. 2. Possible improvement: try docking your laptop when the external monitors are turns off (but still connected), and then turn them on. It helps me sometimes restore the desktop quicker.
