Khurshi, thanks for your comment. Shotwell was stuck on an old git snapshot for over a year (LP: #1581180) because the UOA support was unmaintained and no one had the time or ability to forward-port that support. That support has now been removed and we'll finally get a supportable version of Shotwell in Ubuntu 17.10.
Empathy's UOA support was dropped about two months ago from 17.10. Full removal of UOA means removal of Unity8. It does not mean removal of Unity 7. The online support for some of the dash "lenses" has already been removed as part of this effort. This request is about removal, not demotion to universe.
