Ran into what seems to be this bug just now. I'm running 0.91 on OS X. I have four "Futura Std" styles installed: light, medium, heavy and bold. They all show up in Font Book and LibreOffice just fine. In Inkscape 0.91 only light, medium and bold are available. I also note that for the latter of the four the "Text and Font" menu shows "CSS: Bold, Face: Heavy", though I don't know if that means it is confusing the two. It is the bold variant I'm seeing.
