The first message probably means that the module is in use so it can't be 
removed, you can safely ignore if your up to a reboot after change the file in 
the second command.
about the second error "bash: /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base: Permission denied", 
are you launching the command as just one line?, if you're still having trouble 
with this command, you could try the following one, notice that is just one 
line, and you must be on the X server to successfully use it:

gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

and add the text "options snd-hda-intel model=auto" without the
quotation marks at the end of the file, save it and then reboot.
