Looks like i2c-hid wasn't loaded for Elan. Can you try latest mainline kernel here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.12-rc1/ And boot with `i2c-hid.dyndbg=+p' to kernel parameter. Attach `dmesg` afterward.
