Public bug reported: My surface pro 3 is experiencing random but frequent freezes on 4.8 (ubuntu hwe) kernels. This seems related to 2.4 GHZ wifi, as it happens more often when downloading data via 2.4 GHz networks.
I was able to see this error (file skb_over_panic.txt attached) via ssh, as it is not written to /var/log/syslog anymore. First this error occurs: skbuff: skb_over_panic: text:ffffffffc0762544 len:3563 put:557 head:ffff8c6944e14980 data:ffff8c6944e14a64 tail:0xecf end:0xec0 dev:<NULL> Immediately hereafter: kernel BUG at /build/linux-hwe-7go7JY/linux- hwe-4.8.0/net/core/skbuff.c:105! After this the devices completely locks up, and it has to be shutted down by pressing the power button for about 10s. This did not happen with the tigerite kernel (https://launchpad.net/~tigerite/+archive/ubuntu/kernel) in about 2 years of usage.
