Public bug reported:

After a clean install of ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS I am unable to connect my GMail
IMAP with Thunderbird, as Google changed their sign in page and I am unable to
continue adding an inbox.
The update Thunderbird 52 already solved this bug, but there is no update
available in ubuntu to install the new Thunderbird.
