Public bug reported: I have seen that there are bugs currently reported that appear very similar, but I do not have the detail on this to confirm that they are the same... so I apologize if this ends up being a duplicate of them.
I am running Ubuntu 17.04. Ever since / shortly after upgrading from 16.10, mate-panel has started crashing almost every time software is updated. This is via software updater, package manager, terminal with apt or apt-get, etc. On a more rare event, mate-panel will crash on its own, the crashing itself looking most similar to when software update runs. During the update, the crash happens during the install and/or setup/configure portion of the update. On one event, mate-panel crashed when I used a option in software to add a shortcut to it (the software) in the menu. On the addition of the menu item, mate-panel crashed. The menu item did appear in the menu after as expected. mate-panel - 1.18.1-0ubuntu2 Ubuntu-MATE originally installed with a MATE installer. Currently at 17.04 64 bit. ** Affects: mate-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1688500 Title: mate-panel crashes on software update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mate-panel/+bug/1688500/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
