I must admit I never saw this particular issue, but could it be part of
your local configuration or data that you have in the DB?

On an upgrade the server has to be restarted and it seems to me that the errors 
I pointed out above let the restart fail.
It is a bit unusual as the DpkgTerminalLog.txt should in such a case contain a 
few more lines complaining about the fail-to-start server which I can't find in 
your case.
