indeed, this is COMPLETELY broken on 17.04. It seems systemd-resolved is the only thing being used. My DNS resolving over anyconnect (openconnect) does not work AT ALL anymore. I don't know which brilliant mind decided to change things like that, knowing there are so many bugs open.
