Okay, to give a little update on this, it is something in the "new" version (2:4.4.5+dfsg-2ubuntu5.4 - I'll now refer to this as v5.4 for simplicity's sake) - of what I don't exactly know. After about 12 more full hours of searching and talking with another user who is having similar issues I finally decided to apt-get purge Samba as well as all of it's related packages and then install the "older" version (2:4.4.5 +dfsg-2ubuntu5). Once I installed v5 I simply dropped my old smb.conf file in /etc/samba/ and everything went back to working like nothing had happened.
When this report gets fully approved and gets the "green light" from you guys let me know what I can provide to help get this issue fixed. I'm hoping that it's simply because a lot of users haven't upgraded yet and it's not an obscure bug that doesn't affect a lot of systems - not that I'm hoping that everyone that uses a samba server gets plagued with this, but that it's obvious and will be fixed quickly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1676029 Title: After upgrade, ALL of Samba's shares appear empty on OS X To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1676029/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
