Public bug reported: It's possible to have the 375.39 version of the driver and 375.26 version of nvidia-settings installed at the same time. That can result in a black screen with no graphics.
NVRM: API mismatch: the client has the version 375.39, but Mar 21 10:36:01 behemoth kernel: [ 652.449795] NVRM: this kernel module has the version 375.26. Please Mar 21 10:36:01 behemoth kernel: [ 652.449795] NVRM: make sure that this kernel module and all NVIDIA driver Mar 21 10:36:01 behemoth kernel: [ 652.449795] NVRM: components have the same version. Version .39 is a security upgrade, so many people will install it automatically, and those with the settings binary will subsequently wonder why they are now losing their graphics, as I did. It will not be obvious to non-technical users. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-375 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1674712 Title: Driver crashes because of mismatch with nvidia-settings-binary To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-375/+bug/1674712/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
