@microphonemaster The GRUB install failure appears to be a separate bug from the snapd installation blocking. From this information, it appears the lubuntu installer is trying to always pull GRUB from repo instead of using the local version. That might be a design choice or a bug, but I would recommend filing or consulting with the lubuntu team since that's not a problem with the grub-installer package. Lastly, is there a local version of grub-install available on the live disk to use? Maybe a text version of the install is available, just as a workaround?
