@microphonemaster The GRUB install failure appears to be a separate bug
from the snapd installation blocking. From this information, it appears
the lubuntu installer is trying to always pull GRUB from repo instead of
using the local version. That might be a design choice or a bug, but I
would recommend filing or consulting with the lubuntu team since that's
not a problem with the grub-installer package. Lastly, is there a local
version of grub-install available on the live disk to use? Maybe a text
version of the install is available, just as a workaround?

Thanks for the detailed bug report on the snapd blocking. I have re-
filed this to the ubiquity project.
