I was experiencing the same with only difference that was I was installing Ubuntu 16.04 LTS as a single OS. Also tried to find way around: http://askubuntu.com/questions/862946/unable-to-install-ubuntu- on-acer-aspire-es1-533, but did not have time to give it a try so far. BTW it seems not to be Ubuntu specific, because Fedora 25 crashed in the same way.
