I have a similar problem. No 915resolution isn't needed anymore and xrandr
lists the native resolution of 1366x768 but 1024x768 is used on start and saved
in xorg.conf. This happens since changing from i810 to intel driver in Gutsy.
It is no problem to change to the correct resolution with "Screen Resolution"
but xorg.conf has to be changed too. Before change to Intel driver the correct
native resolution was saved in xorg.conf so maybe it is partly Intel driver
related, at least the combination of Xorg with the driver.
VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express
Graphics Controller (rev 03)
