Christopher M. Penalver, I am not so sure the workaround is easy to implement. A regular user is unlikely to find this bug report and would probably not know how to parse any of the comments here even if they did. And this bug was triggered by a system update. Just imagine somebody who can barely edit a text file rebooting into a blank screen.
