Public bug reported:

When I run Etherape as a normal user it launches, but as my system is
configured so that only root can capture, I am forced to run Etherape
with sudo, however this means that the only output I get is this and
that the program does not work as it does not launch and just exist
after printing this:

    No protocol specified

    (etherape:2294): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0

I am running Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 with GNOME 3.22 and this only started
happening after I switched from Xorg to Wayland via the login screen.
