I agree to that too. We must not mix up vote system and priority in a bug tracking system, the vote must be independent from the priority of the bug. The vote is a clue which will help people to gather around priorities but the vote isn't the priority itself. I continue to think that if this idea is correctly implemented in launchpad, it will gives great benefit for the community.
Vote system can help tracking which blueprint are in demand, which bugs affects a lot of users. It can also help by reducing noise in launchpad.
