Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce:
1) Install fresh Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 2) Install Samba, Winbind and the corresponding libpam-winbind packages 3) Execute pam-auth-update and activate Winbind/ActiveDirectory authentication 4) Login to the system /var/log/auth.log fills up with error messages: PAM unable to dlopen(pam_winbind.so): /lib/security/pam_winbind.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory PAM adding faulty module: pam_winbind.so And indeed there is no /lib/security directory at all. pam_winbind.so is in /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/security Symlinking /lib/security to this directory leads to "symbol not found" errors for pam_winbind.so This worked a few days ago -. there must have been an update very recently which breaks pam_winbind.so. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1644764 Title: winbind and PAM failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1644764/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
