 Yeah your best bet is a USB CDrom drive. The error I would bet while
under the live cd is in dmesg:

[ 114.748000] [drm:radeon_cp_init] *ERROR* radeon_cp_init called without lock 
held
[ 114.748000] [drm:drm_unlock] *ERROR* Process 8080 using kernel context 0

there maybe more. But what I have found though is that the desktop
effects (using compiz) are just not very stable. It works good for a
while, then it will totally lock the machine. Well at least the video,
tasks are still running on the machine. Basically you can't do anything.
I just ended up turning it off completely.
