I tried it all out in 16.04 (as far as I could) and it appeared to work.
The only device I had to try to connect was my phone and that couldn't
detect the SSID (even when I manually entered the details). I read an
internet comment saying that some devices can't connect to this type of
hotspot. If my laptop was broadcasting the SSID correctly then another
device could have connected, so then I would have got as far as Doug got
in his test. If a device can connect but can't share the internet
connection then it's surely a software bug not a documentation bug? Does
anyone know the package name? If I have the package name I can check the
bugs database and if necessary file a new (software) bug.
