This seems to be an upstream-bug. For whatever (K)Ubuntu-version this is reported.
I've bee trying to find something coresponding via: https://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=calendar But it doesn't show. Once this is reported upstream, you may link it here, than we can "chase" the Kubuntu-Developers to implement (cherrypick) the bugfix.
