The same problem occurs with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Cold-boot, particularly, this seems to fail. Basically the problem is that usb_modeswitch_dispatcher is called with incorrect arguments. # systemctl --all | grep usb_modeswitch ● usb_modeswitch@1-9_1-9:1.0.service loaded failed failed USB_ModeSwitch_1-9_1-9:1.0 system-usb_modeswitch.slice loaded active active system-usb_modeswitch.slice # systemctl status -l usb_modeswitch@1-9_1-9:1.0.service ● usb_modeswitch@1-9_1-9:1.0.service - USB_ModeSwitch_1-9_1-9:1.0 Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/usb_modeswitch@.service; static; vendor preset: enabled) Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Wed 2016-10-05 13:33:07 UTC; 1h 4min ago Process: 615 ExecStart=/usr/sbin/usb_modeswitch_dispatcher --switch-systemd %i (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE) Main PID: 615 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE) Oct 05 13:33:04 giskard2 systemd[1]: Starting USB_ModeSwitch_1-9_1-9:1.0...
