I'm sorry for not providing more info.
Google Desktop Search, is google's equivalent to trackerd. see 
http://desktop.google.com/linux
Pressing ctrl twice will make the search box popup, so the user can enter the 
search query.

The login screen I mention, is the one of GDM, when a user locks is session, 
either for security, or to change to another logged in user. just press, 
ctrl+alt+L, and you will see what I mean.
will this be enough to reproduce it?
