I'm getting this effect to. Usually when a dialogue window pops up, or on opening a new application kwin crashes losing all the window decorations and input focus. I generally fix it by ALT+F2 to bring up an input and then typing kwin to restart it. It's pretty poor show that this happens. After all the window manager is a pretty vital function of the system and if we can't get that to work why should anyone bother using it,....
I'm surprised this bug still exists. My system is Kubuntu 16.04, the 64bit version. This only started happening when I tried to change the theme on the desktop - after changing the theme kwin crashes started happening. Sadly changing back to the original theme didn't return the system to stability...honestly I think I'm off to buy a MAC. After 15 years of using Linux it seems to be getting harder, not easier... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440210 Title: KWin crashes multiple times a day and often has to be restarted manually.
