Public bug reported:

After installing Linux Mint 18 Xfce 64 bit (before: LM 13 32 bit), the
date and time strings in the datetime plugin overlap (see screenshot,
also for the settings). This is independent of the selected font and
sizes.

xfce4-datetime-plugin 0.6.2-2ubuntu2
xfce4-panel 4.12.0-3ubuntu2

Any fix or workaround?

Having a short look at the code, maybe there has been a change in
gtk_box?
