Public bug reported: It is rather clear that one can't define a default Xenial guest and live migrate it back to a Trusty host. The qemu/kvm on the Trusty machine just doesn't know how to handle this new type of virtual machine.
But I'd have assumed that starting a ppc-i440fx-trusty machine on Xenial should allow them to be migrated back to a Trusty host. At the moment that doesn't work. The same is true for T(P)->P. OTOH - this isn't the most important migration direction, so while a true issue it maybe isn't the worst as long as forward migration and back-migration of these guests works. I already have enough data from the tests to start debugging once more urgent related issues on migration are resolved. ** Affects: qemu (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Status: Triaged ** Changed in: qemu (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: qemu (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1622871 Title: Reverse migration of old machine types not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1622871/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
