You haven't provided any package or release version information with
your report. In any case, this sounds like a bug that should be reported
upstream to the rsync project itself, as in Ubuntu we don't expect to
make rsync behaviour special as that would be confusing to rsync users
across the ecosystem.

Please check to see if in your opinion this affects the latest version
of rsync as available directly from the rsync project, and if this is
the case then please file a bug upstream and report the link to that bug
here.

If there is a change made upstream that Ubuntu should be following in
some specific Ubuntu releases, please provide a link to the upstream
change and provide Ubuntu package version information, state why you
think this should be fixed in a patch in Ubuntu, and then change the bug
status to New.
