Aidan: I think I made the code to make it work. From what I recall the main upstream author is/was not happy with the just API compatibility (recompiling) and would have preferred to see an ABI compatible (binary compatibility). This effectively means the need for a full i386+Win32 environment which means Wine.
I was strongly requested not to apply, and so in my time, I didn't apply it.
