Public bug reported: 1) lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS Release: 16.04
2) apt policy compiz compiz: Installed: 1:0.9.12.2+16.04.20160801.3-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 1:0.9.12.2+16.04.20160801.3-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1:0.9.12.2+16.04.20160801.3-0ubuntu1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:0.9.12.2+16.04.20160415-0ubuntu1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main i386 Packages Please see attached Bug Demo.pdf for keyboard click-for-click instructions with screenshots. 3) What is expected to happen is start with a Firefox window maximized. Notice at the top left of the window three buttons from left to right: Close, Minimize, and Unmaximize. Secondary click the window and notice the same options in the menu. Next, click Super+Left to tile the window to the left side of the screen. Notice how in the top left, the buttons from left to right are Close, Minimize, and Maximize. Secondary click the window, and notice the same options. Next, at the top left of the window click the Maximize button. It should maximize the window. 4) Instead, what happens is it unmaximizes the window so that the top left buttons aren't visible. Move the window so the buttons are visible, and secondary click it. Notice the menu has the same options as the buttons: Close, Minimize, and Maximize. Click the Maximize button. Now the window is maximized. This is not reproducible in a Guest session with either GNOME Flashback (Compiz) or GNOME Flashback (Metacity). So, it may be correlated to the specific configurations within CompizConfig Settings Manager. WORKAROUND: Alt+Space > Maximize when the window unexpectedly unmaximizes.
