** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel - On a intel GMA X 3000 (integrated g965 chipset), at 60hz 1440x900 screen - is horizontally compressed to the rightmost 80% of the display, leaving - the remaining 20% black an off the display limits (ie, it doesn't - display on a screeenshot and the mouse is confined to the 80% where the - picture is, as if it were the whole screen). This results in a distorted - image. + On a intel X3000 (integrated g965 chipset), at 60hz 1440x900 screen is + horizontally compressed to the rightmost 80% of the display, leaving the + remaining 20% black an off the display limits (ie, it doesn't display on + a screeenshot and the mouse is confined to the 80% where the picture is, + as if it were the whole screen). This results in a distorted image. It is as though the 1440 horizontal pixels where compressed into approximately 1161 pixels. The resolution is still 1440x900 for the X server, thoug, since taking a screenshot produces a non distorted 1440x900 image. I am using a viewsonic VG1921wm lcd display. + + Using 75 hz solves this problem, so I don't think it is too much of an + issue - still, Ubuntu installation defaults to 60hz, so it makes ubuntu + "look bad" on my hardware at least. -- Distorted screen at 60hz, 1440x900: 20% black screen and wrong aspect ratio on intel X3000 (g965) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150947 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
